PREFACE

This special issue is dedicated to Prof.V.Lakshmikantham, a legendary mathematician, a world citizen, a colossal giant, who brought together mathematicians, scientists and engineers from various disciplines onto one platform. His legacy consists of the number of research monographs, he coauthored with many mathematicians, the number of journals he edited, the foresight he had to start new journals in budding areas like Nonlinear Analysis and Hybrid systems. He is also the founding President of the International Federation of Nonlinear Analysts \under whose aegis he organized World Congress of Nonlinear Analysts once in every four years from 1992 to 2008.   He also organized many local conferences and published many proceedings and edited volumes.

He organized the 1^st international conference on “Recent Advances in Mathematical Sciences and Applications-09” at the GVP College of Engineering(Autonomous), Visakhapatnam, where he started a research institute, which is now named after him as GVP-Prof. V. Lakshmikantham Institute for Advanced Studies.

Keeping in view the spirit and attitude of Prof. V. Lakshmikantham the 2^nd international conference RAMSA-13 was organized. The response was overwhelming and researchers from all over the globe belonging to a broad spectrum of disciplines extended their support.

This issue is a part of the proceedings of the 2^nd international conference on “Recent Advances in Mathematical Sciences and Applications-13” which has been organized as a tribute to late Prof. V. Lakshmikantham during 19^th December 2013 to 22^nd December 2013 at GVP college of Engineering (Autonomous) with support from TEQIP-II, S.C 1.2 (funded by World Bank) and International Federation of Nonlinear Analysts. There were about 50 papers presented in the conference, out of which around 25 of them were submitted for the special issue. Finally, fourteen papers are a part of the proceedings of the conference.

I express my deep sense of gratitude to Prof.C.Tsokos, the President of IFNA for his support and for readily accepting to publish a part of the proceedings as a special issue of the Global Journal of Mathematical Sciences published under the banner of IFNA..I express my deep sense of appreciation for all the reviewers who spent their valuable time for reviewing the papers. I sincerely thank the managing editors of the journal Dr. Bong-Jin Choi, PhD. and Mr. Taysseer Sharaf for the unstinting support they gave me in the process of bringing out this volume.
